Alexey V. Vasilyev,
MD, EUSID member, Head of the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department in the St.-Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies (SPbMAPS), dean of the Faculty of Dentistry in the SPbMAPS.
Alexey V. Vasilyev was born in 1949 in St.-Petersburg.
In 1972 he graduated from the Pavolov State Medical University with a degree in dentistry and began 2-year clinical training in oral surgery.
From 1974 to 1978 worked as a maxillofacial surgeon in the State Hospital №8 which is specialized in tumours treatment.
In 1978 won the contest for being an assistant of the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department in the St.-Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies.
In 1979 became a PhD in medicine after writing the dissertation “Tumours cryodestruction in maxillofacial region and ways of its enhancement”.
In the next years worked for the St.-Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies as an assistant, senior assistant, professor of the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department, passed training courses in best German, Italian, USA, and Swedish clinics.
In 2001 acquired a doctor’s degree in medicine for his dissertation “The treatment of the condylar region in mandible”.
2003-present Heading the Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department in the St.-Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies.
Alexey V. Vasilyev is well known among Russian dentists as an outstanding dental and maxillofacial surgeon who wrote more than 70 articles in specialized magazines.
